Charles is originally from a small rural farming community in Oakland, Nebraska, which had a population of 1400. He became interested in art at the very young age of 5 years old and began painting at the age of 11.
While still in high school, he received a scholarship for a summer painting program at Otis/Parson's School of Design in Los Angeles and this experience greatly broadened his ideas of process and technique.
He moved to the Los Angeles area in 1993 and has held a variety of art related jobs. For 20 years Charles was an illustrator for a "World Famous Company" that has theme parks all over the world... Hmmm?
He left that place in 2015 and has been doing commissions, paintings, and various art endeavors full time.
I am proficient in several styles and mediums. I used to think that art needed to be realistic. Over the years I have grown to appreciate abstraction and impressionism. Most recently my work has taken a turn towards symbolism and assemblage using found objects and materials.
One never knows what can inspire... provoke emotion. ~ Art
